Peter Pollard, SNAP, says: "We believe the diocese did not include Albert Blanchard in the John Jay report, and it raises the question again of whether files have been destroyed." (full story)

Groups urge Catholics to re-direct donations - Monday, June 14, 2010
6-14-10 The grassroots group Send the Bishops a Message urges all United States Catholics to prayerfully and thoughtfully consider re-directing the donations that they would ordinarily earmark for the Peter’s Pence collection on Sunday June 27 to a non-church charity of their choice. For those who would like to donate to non-profit organizations that provide direct help to survivors of clergy sexual abuse, the group recommends that they choose the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP)  and/or Road to Recovery International. The hidden wealth of the Catholic Church - Monday, June 14, 2010
6-14-10 More than €40 million have gone missing in the Diocese of Magdeburg in eastern Germany, €5 million have disappeared in Limburg near Frankfurt, and it was recently discovered that a senior priest in the Diocese of Münster had 30 secret bank accounts. And while parishes throughout Germany are cutting jobs and funds for community work, many bishops are still living on the high horse. A brand-new residence? An ostentatious home for their retirement? Restoration of a Marian column to the tune of €120,000? None of these expenditures presents a problem to high-ranking church officials from Trier in the west to Passau in the southeastern corner of Bavaria, whose coffers are brimming with cash. What happened to Ruth Kolpack? - Monday, June 14, 2010
6-14-10 Diocesan officials never said explicitly why she was fired but strongly suggested she opposed church doctrine in her role as a Catholic teacher. Kolpack said that while some of her personal views conflict with church policy — she supports gay marriage and female priests — she did not express those views while teaching. This February, Kolpack became social service resource coordinator for Beloit Regional Hospice, a position in which she ensures that all components of the organization work together to provide holistic care. "It's a wonderful opportunity," she said. She is still a member of St. Thomas the Apostle and sings in the choir. Still, her firing remains "very painful" she said. (full story)
