| Archdiocese Responds to Secrecy Letter - Monday, May 18, 2009 "In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, the Archbishop's Advisory Board membership and procedings are both confidential. As a result of our research we have found that some dioceses do reveal the names of members, others do not. We also asked the Archdiocese of Atlanta Advisory Board under what conditions they agreed to serve. They have and continue to request confidentiality as a condition of their service on the Advisory Board." (read more) |
| Nothing to Hide - Thursday, February 05, 2009 2-1-09 Toward the Archdiocese’s stated objective of openness and transparency, Voice of the Faithful-Atlanta would urge two positive steps. First, the Archdiocese should release the names of the members of the Archdiocesan Review Board. Secondly, an annual report of the Archdiocesan Office of Child and Youth Protection should be made available for examination by concerned faithful so that they may be assured of its proper functioning as well as that of the Review Board. | Nov. 2007 U.S. Bishops Elections - Friday, November 16, 2007 11-16-07 I must advise you that we and other informed Catholic laity are again disappointed and dismayed that the bishops have elected Cardinal George of Chicago to lead the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, with Bishop Kicanas as Vice-President. The choice of the Cardinal seems to us nothing less than a spiteful slap on the face of the thousands of victims of sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic clergy and of us who have labored long on survivors' behalf and who counseled against electing him.
